Illustrations for a window route in Tilburg

This window illustration was part of a route trough the city of Tilburg, The Netherlands. Every year the festival ‘Illustrada’ takes place here, celebrating illustration in at its forms. I got this shopping window to decorate, being free in what to do with it, only having the theme of this years festival, namely ‘drawing together‘.

I thought it was fun to play with dimensions, to draw people who are drawing. Also, I played with the name of the store, Kunstlichtdesign, which means Art Light Design, celling art and design from local makers. This resulted in this design, where the characters are using the window to draw all kind of things that light up.

Deze raamtekening was onderdeel van een route door Tilburg. Ieder jaar vindt daar het festival ‘Illustrada‘ plaats, dat illustratie in al zijn vormen viert. Ik kreeg deze winkelramen toegewezen om te decoreren, ik kreeg daarin vrijheid om te doen wat ik wilde. Het thema van het festival was dit jaar ‘samen tekenen‘.

Ik dacht dat het grappig was om met dimensies te spelen, om mensen te tekenen die aan het tekenen zijn. Ook speelde ik met de naam van de winkel, KunstlichtDesign, waar kunst en design van lokale makers wordt verkocht. Hierdoor kwam ik bij dit ontwerp, waar karakters het raam gebruiken om allerlei voorwerpen te tekenen die licht geven.
