Animation teaser for a nominated book
This is a very short animation, covering a part of the story of the book ‘At the end of the war‘ by Bert Natter. This book was nominated for the Boekenbon Literature prize 2025. On the evening of the ceremony, for every nominated book, a different kind of artist made an ode about the book.
This book tells the dark story of the last days of a concentration camp in World War II. The book is written like a theater play: you see the things that are happening through the eyes of the different characters, that’s why I decided to create this animation showing a few of these characters, or at least what I imagined them to look like.
The animation is made using hand drawn frames.
Dit is een hele korte animatie, die een deel van het boek ‘Aan het einde van de oorlog‘ door Bert Natter, laat zien. Dit boek werd genomineerd voor de Boekenbon Literatuurprijs 2025. Op de avond van de uitrijkingsceremonie, maakten verschillende kunstenaars een ode voor één van de genomineerde boeken.
Dit boek vertelt het duistere verhaal van de laatste dagen van een concentratiekamp in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Het boek is geschreven als een theaterstuk: je ziet de dingen die gebeuren door de ogen van de verschillende karakters, daarom besloot ik om voor de animatie een aantal van deze mensen te laten zien, of tenminste wat ik me van hen inbeeldde.
De animatie is gemaakt door handgetekende frames.
